Cybersecurity: A Decisive Factor in Managed Services for ProAV, UCC and Digital Signage

Cybersecurity, transparency and European data sovereignty for resilient Managed Services.

Cybersecurity is becoming a decisive factor in Managed Services for ProAV, UCC and Digital Signage. As communication environments become more complex, many companies rely on Managed Service Providers to operate meeting rooms, collaboration platforms and digital signage networks efficiently and reliably. However, this also creates a new risk: if a provider is compromised, attackers may potentially gain access to multiple customer environments at once.

In the INVIDIS interview, Sven Damberger explains why secure Managed Services require more than certifications. Truly secure providers need a multi-layered security architecture including tenant separation, firewalls, VLANs, VRFs, encrypted access, continuous monitoring, role-based permissions, audit logs and regular security reviews.

The article also highlights key attack vectors such as phishing, compromised admin accounts, ransomware, DDoS attacks and UCC-specific risks like SIP misuse or attacks on public interfaces. Particularly critical are privileged administrator accounts, which must be protected through strong, phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication.

A central message of the interview is transparency: customers should not rely on general security promises alone. They should ask Managed Service Providers to demonstrate how customer environments are separated, how access is controlled, how vulnerabilities are handled, and how backup and incident-response processes are implemented in practice. Certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 2717, ISO 27018 or TISAX are helpful, but they do not replace a technical discussion about real security architecture.

The article also underlines the growing importance of European data sovereignty. MVC Videra operates its own infrastructure in Frankfurt and Finland, providing control within the European legal framework and geo-redundant resilience across both sites.

Managed Services for ProAV, UCC and Digital Signage are only trustworthy if cybersecurity is embedded in architecture, processes and company culture, not treated as an afterthought.
